Aldene Barnard Obituary (1928 - 2023) - Bismarck, North Dakota

Aldene Barnard, 94, Bismarck, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at a local Care Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2023, at DaWise Perry/ Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail. A private burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Aldene was born November 16, 1928, on the family homestead south of Wilton, ND, to Ivan and Marion (Eliason) Holden. She was raised and educated in Wilton where she graduated from Wilton High School in 1946. She met the love of her life Raphael "Ray" Barnard and married on August 13, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bismarck. They raised their two sons and two daughters in Mandan. Aldene worked at Norwest Bank for over ten years. She also worked as a temp for Kelly Services, enjoying the various jobs and meeting new people. Her favorite was handing out food samples at the grocery stores. Aldene and Ray enjoyed gardening and sharing vegetables with family and neighbors. They volunteered for over 40 years at Christ the King Church and School in Mandan. Aldene was a long-standing member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Aldene and Ray celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before Ray passed away in December of 2014. Aldene is survived by her sons: Jim (Jane) Fayetteville GA, Steve (Debbie) Mandan ND, her daughters: Laura (Joe) Kalvoda, Bismarck, ND and Nancy Barnard Smith, Windsor CO; her grandchildren: Stacey Kautzman, Dawn Renner, Jessica Barnard, Joni Floyd, Kevin Kalvoda, and Brian Kalvoda, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson Jeremy Barnard, and one great granddaughter Aubrie Kalvod.
