Alice G. Vik Obituary (1917

Alice G. (Kringstad) Vik, 95, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away, Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Baptist Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, with Rev. Wes Aardahl officiating. Burial will be in the Hoople Cemetery, Hoople, North Dakota. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7 PM, Monday, July 2, 2012, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service. Alice was born April 5, 1917, at Chicago, Illinois, to Anton and Elise (Hefty) Aamot. Her family moved to North Dakota when she was three weeks old and she was raised and educated in Milton, North Dakota. She attended high school for three years in Shabbona, Illinois, then returned to North Dakota and graduated from Osnabrock High School. On July 31, 1936, she married Ernest Kringstad. He passed away in 1970. She married George Vik on April 17, 1975, in Bismarck. He passed away in 2000. As a young woman, Alice enjoyed playing baseball. She worked long hours in a potato house grading potatoes in Hoople. She later worked in the dietitian department of the then Bismarck Hospital. She loved playing cards and bingo. She enjoyed tap dancing\u0027"even tap dancing at her own 80th birthday party. She believed in staying busy and involved, and volunteered for many years for the Senior Companion Program. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and the Eagles. She is survived by four daughters, Carol (Jack) Iverson, Grand Forks, Linda (Jake) Jacobson, Jamestown, Judy (Bill) Dooling, Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Betty (Jerry) Cooper, Prosperity, Pennsylvania; three sons, Edroy (Faye) Kringstad, Bismarck, Jimmy (Cindy) Kringstad, Sebring, Florida, Terry (Judy) Kringstad, Bismarck; 22 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Ernest and George, two sisters, Margaret Tharaldson, Jeanette Ostewig; six brothers, Alfred, Arling, Arthur, Edwin, Frederick, and Carl; and two infant sisters; and two grandsons, Timothy Kringstad and William Dooling. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials be made to the Baptist Home, Bismarck.
