Alvin Albert Vietz, 80, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Baptist Health Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 6, 2017, at Mandan Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mandan with Rev. Harold Chin officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Alvin was born November 25, 1936, to Louie and Carrie (Fandrich) Vietz at Denhoff, North Dakota, where he was raised and educated. On April 21, 1961, he married Esther Lennick in Grand Forks. Alvin worked for Anheuser-Busch Company, Tulsa, Oklahoma as an auto mechanic. He was active in the church and served as deacon. He enjoyed small engine repairs, and was a volunteer fire department person. He is survived by his wife, Esther; two daughters, Jody (Richard) Frazier, Milliken, Colorado, and Jacalyn (Wes) Swicegood, Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters, Donna Fiblestad, McClusky, Connie (John) Doll, Bismarck, and Jane Wright, Waynesboro, Virginia; two brothers, Melvin (Beverly) Vietz, Manila, Iowa, and Donald Vietz, Sterling, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Matthew (Caitlyn) Frazier, Natasha Frazier, Jocelyn Swicegood (Kegan Parker), Jessica (Bryan) Perry, and Lauren Swicegood; one great-grandchild, Elijah Perry; two foster sisters, Renetta See Walker, and Shelly Oster, both of Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Kevin.
