On January 4, 1986, the sun shown a little brighter that day, because Andrew Charles “Chuck” McGarvey was born. His parents, Dianne (McGarvey) Walsh and Christopher McGarvey, welcomed a beautiful son into the world in Bismarck. He was a little brother to Dustin and Cory McGarvey, and later, a big brother to sister Shae (McGarvey) Rademacher. He was so loved. His first weeks of life were difficult as he contracted a staph infection and spent several weeks in the NICU. As the true fighter he was, he pulled through. He went to school in Bismarck and later in Center, ND. He was married in 2008 and to that union he was blessed with two beautiful children Randal and Valkyri McGarvey. Later he was blessed with his bonus kiddos Kyren and Aggie. He loved them all so very much, and they loved him. His kids meant the world to him, and he was the best dad ever, EVER.
He worked various jobs throughout his life and enjoyed most of all the people he worked with, making many lifetime friends along the way. His friends knew him as “Chuck”, but his family called him Andrew. He had a huge passion for guns. He took the time to teach each of his kids, and many others, the proper way to handle a weapon and how to correctly and safely shoot. He picked up the love of cooking and baking while working and passed that onto his kids by teaching them how to cook and he would make the most wonderful meals for his family. Andrew had the most amazingly, quirky, dry sense of humor, and he was always quick with a snarky comeback. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved restoring and photographing old vehicles and tractors. Three years ago, he received a 1939 Farmall B that was all in pieces and reassembled it along with his uncles, and gave it to his mom for Mother’s Day, she said it was the best gift she had every received. He was currently working on restoring a 1960 Ford truck that had been purchased new by his great grandmother. Andrew loved to go hunting in the Hebron area with his uncles and to help on the farm whenever they needed him. Andrew was also a gifted photographer and for the last several years was the official photographer for the Oliver County Tractor Club.
Andrew also loved to travel and recently took a trip with his kids to Nebraska to see several bands in concert and to take the kids to the Omaha Henry Dorley Zoo. But his most favorite trip was a few years ago when he traveled to Texas to see his friends and to go on a wild boar hunt from a helicopter. He was so excited about this trip that he did it twice.
Missing him forever will be his Mom and Dad, Dianne and Duane Walsh, Center, ND; Father, Christopher McGarvey, Columbus, Arizona; his children Randal and Valkyri McGarvey, Kyren Eckroth and Aggie Cotton, all of Lincoln, ND; brothers Dustin (Mandy) McGarvey, Wetumpka, Alabama; Cory McGarvey, Fargo, ND; Shae (Casey) Rademacher, Mandan, ND; Bonus sisters Amy (Lucas) Asche; Heather (Ron) Walsh-Burnside; Nieces: Jaimee Tatro, Kaitlyn Retzer, Arya Rademacher; Neveah Bramlett and Trinity Bramlett; Nephews: Tanner Walsh, Mateo McGarvey, Hunter Bartholomay, CJ McGarvey, Callan Rademacher.
