Archie Mertz

Archie A. Mertz, 76, Lincoln, ND, passed away, Thursday, September 16, 2021, Archie Mertz from complications from bladder cancer. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan, ND with Rev. Bruce Adams officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow in the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Archie was born in Kidder County on February 4, 1945 to Jacob and Leah (Schumacher) Mertz. He graduated from Tappen High School in 1963 and joined the Army the next day.
From there he went on to Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington, earning his degree in heavy equipment mechanics. He was a skilled mechanic and spent many years working on all types of engines and transmissions until he retired in 2006.
He loved spending his retirement years outdoors camping, fishing and being with friends and family.
Archie is survived by his wife Sharon Mertz; and his daughters Carleen Mertz (David Spraguer) and Stacey (Patrick) Dagnault; Siblings: Inez (Fred) Ziemann, Marvin (Bonnie) Mertz, Irene (Ray) Rauscher, Terry (Sharon) Mertz; Brothers-in-Law: Joe (Deb) Frank and John (Lori) Frank; Grandchildren: Cayla Cordova, Caitlin Cordova and Aidan Dagnault; and Great Grandson: Kairos Tawfick.
He is predeceased by his Parents; Son, Loren Mertz; Brother, Jack Mertz; Sister, Sharon Mertz and Father and Mother-in-Law, Wilbur & Sally Frank.
Archie will always be remembered for his generosity and kindness and, of course, his baby-blue eyes.
