Arlen Johnson Obituary (1942

Arlen D. Johnson, 80, Bismarck, ND, passed away October 10, 2022, at a local care center, after a long battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 4, 2022, at DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan with Rev. Randy Upgren officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan at 12:00 PM, Noon. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arlen's name to the Arbor Day Foundation. Arlen was born June 17, 1942, in Fargo ND to Arvid and Lois (Hovden) Johnson. He grew up in Fargo and after graduating from Central High School in Fargo he joined the Navy. After electrician school, he served aboard the USS Ticondiroga for three years, with several cruises to the Far East. After discharge, he became a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 300, he was a member since 1965. Arlen married Gail Vinje-Dobbins in Apple Valley, MN on April 4, 2009. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years and continued to enjoy fishing trips on the Missouri River and Lake Sakakawea. He also enjoyed an occasional ice fishing trip to Lake of the Woods with his good friend Dave and other friends and family. He also liked to BBQ and prepare lavish meals for friends and family. He is survived by his wife; three children from his previous marriage, Christy (Keith) Klein, Michael (Kelly) Johnson, and Elizabeth "Bitsy" (Baldr) Coe; seven grandchildren, Kevin Klein, Logan Galloway, Avery Coe, Kendall Coe, Lucas Johnson, Gavin Johnson and Joshua (Mary) Heim; great grandsons, Weston and Kameron. Arlen was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Alan Johnson.
