Arvid M. Johnson Obituary (1928 - 2017)

Arvid M. Johnson, 88, Mandan, North Dakota, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, North Dakota. Graveside Services will be in held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with Military Honors by the Bismarck AmVets and the US Air Force, Minot, North Dakota. Arvid was born July 3, 1928, at Milnor, North Dakota, to Ralph and Ida (Thompson) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Milnor and graduated from Milnor High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Arvid worked at Bobcat in Gwinner, North Dakota until purchasing a Motel in Valley City, North Dakota and Ice Cream Shop in LaMoure, North Dakota. He married Janice Dronen on November 4, 1988, in Valley City and they moved to Mandan, where he remained until his death. He enjoyed collecting coins, and woodworking, but mostly spending the last 28 years sharing his life with Janice. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Janice; three daughters, Darcy (Harley) Schwind, Mandan, Nikki (Jay) Larson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Angie (Mike Stuge) Sinkula, Lakeville, Minnesota; and several grandchildren. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; one sister, and one brother.
