Bennet Walker Day Obituary (1962 - 2013)

BENNETT "TINKER" WALKER DAY, 50, Fort Yates, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2013, in the AJ Agard Memorial Building, Fort Yates, with Rev. Phil Wolverton officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 9:00 AM until time of service in the AJ Agard Memorial Building, Fort Yates. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Porcupine, North Dakota. Tinker was born July 1, 1962, at Fort Yates, to Alvin and Pearl (Walker) Iron Boulder. He was raised and educated in Englewood, Colorado, where he married Joy Giroux. He worked as a janitor for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Tinker enjoyed helping others and spending time with friends and family. He liked to hunt and fish but, especially taking care of stray animals, as he was an animal lover. Tinker loved and cared about everyone who came into his life. He is survived by his special friend, Martina Walks; sister, Ann Iron Boulder (Rob Silk), Mandan; four brothers, Frank Day, Englewood, Colorado, Joseph "Sonny" (Amanda) Iron Boulder, Fort Yates, Don Grey Day, Selfridge, and Danny (Ella) Hamilton, Eagle Butte, South Dakota; two aunts, Joyce Staff, Englewood, Colorado, and Augustine Davila, Selfridge; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Tinker was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandparents; and special friend, Carol Running Hawk.
