Blanche Mary White Eagle Obituary (1936

Blanche M. White Eagle, 81, White Shield, North Dakota, formerly of Cannon Ball, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017, near White Shield. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Cannon Ball Community Center, Cannon Ball, with Brother George Maufort officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 18, 2017, beginning at 5:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Blanche was born April 12, 1936, at Fort Yates, to Joseph and Nancy (Two Shields) Yellow Hammer. She was raised and educated on Standing Rock, where she attended school in Fort Yates, North Dakota and Marty Indian School, Marty, SD, where she graduated. On February 23, 1957, she married Melvin White Eagle. She was a cheerleader, basketball player and Homecoming Queen at Fort Yates high school. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, attending her families sporting events and was a huge fan of Solen Sioux basketball. She also enjoyed traveling. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Axillary Post 9061 in Fort Berthold, ND and Joseph Young Hawk and Elmer Bear Post 253 in White Shield, ND. She is survived by six daughters, Renee (Sam) Two Shields, Cannon Ball, Lois (Tony) Two Bears, Cannon Ball, Juanita White Eagle, Fort Yates, Pam (Gary) Hoffman, Solen, Harriet (Jon) Lerew, Brookings, SD, and Annie (Mike) Toledo, Cannon Ball; son-in-law, Lyle Uses Arrow Sr.; 33 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and special friend, Gerald White Sr., White Shield, ND. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Carol; grandchildren, Loren, Samuel, Alden, and Brad; and six great grandchildren.
