Carla was born August 7, 1950, at Mandan, North Dakota, to Edward and Esther (Childs) Wenger. She was raised and educated in Mandan, where on July 31, 1984, she married Bruce Zander-her loving and devoted husband.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, shopping, making crafts, and scooting around on her scooter, but mostly spending time with her family and friends. She also liked getting her nails and hair done by the Missouri Slope Staff and going to the casino. She was a happy wife, mother, grandmother, and an inspiration to her family. Carla loved bragging about her grandchildren and always lit up around them.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Bruce; mother, Esther Wenger, both of Mandan; two daughters, Serena Schaff, Bismarck, and Shirley Schaff, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; son, Scott Schaff, West Palm Beach, Florida; four sisters, Julie (Roger) Schaff, Chicago, Illinois, Loretta (Dick) Paul, Grand Forks, Cindy (Steve) Wember, New Leipzig, and Sherrie (Jerome) Johnson, Mandan; two brothers, Ronnie Wenger, Mandan, and Westley (Pam) Wenger, Bismarck; granddaughter, Shandi (Dustin) Romans, two great-grandchildren, Brycen and Peyton Romans; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the MSLCC Staff for the eight years of wonderful care and kindness to Mom. Also thanks to the staff at Sanford Health Sunset Drive Continuing Care Center for the wonderful care during her short time there.

Carla was preceded in death by her father Edward Wenger; and her father and mother-in-law, Anton and Beatrice Zander.
