Cecelia Rose Wald, 89, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Miller Pointe, a Prospera Community, Mandan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM, Friday, September 8, 2017, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck with Fr. Jared Johnson officiating. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Cecelia was born on May 19, 1928 to Anton and Eva (Salwei) Jund in Zeeland, North Dakota. She attended Zeeland Public Schools. On May 13, 1946, she married Sebastian Wald, the love of her life, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland. They settled on the family farm, where they raised four children. They were members of St. Andrew's Parish. She taught first grade at Blumenthal School district for one year and devoted every day of those years on the farm to her family and working alongside Sebastian.

In 1971, they moved to Bismarck. Cecelia enjoyed her grandchildren, working at Ben Franklin, and being a dedicated member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. On May 21, 1995, Sebastian went to his heavenly home, and Cecelia missed him every day until she joined him on September 3, 2017.

Cecelia always made sure that anyone who came to her home was greeted warmly with a big hug and then a feast was set out on her table. She enjoyed gardening, singing, and visiting with her friends on Mandan Street and those from the Bismarck Veteran's Library. One of her favorite outings was to watch Dave bowl on Friday nights. Many remember enjoying a cup of coffee, a baked goodie and lots of laughs while visiting with Cecelia. She was always taking care of those around her, checking to make sure that they had whatever they needed. There are many young hockey players and figure skaters (and parents) who enjoyed the brimming boxes sent on trips, with a variety of home-made snacks, individually wrapped and ready to enjoy. Her family (all of whom she truly cherished) always knew that they were being watched over as they traveled because Grandma Celia had a candle burning for them until they reached their destination. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play hockey, and often prayed to the Blessed Mother for a goal, then reminded all of us that the other team had grandmothers praying to the Blessed Mother for their players
too.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, Sebastian, her parents, mother and father in-law, brothers Robert and Thomas Jund, brothers-in-law, Arnold Schmitt and Mike Seiler, sister-in-law Lorraine Jund, daughter-in-law Nancy Wald, and grand-daughter, Kim Reese.

Cecelia is deeply loved and will be missed by her sons, Donald (Julie) Wald, Bismarck, George (Dusty) Reese, Kanab, UT, Dave (Val) Wald, Bismarck, and daughter, Jane Ortega, Seattle, WA; her grandchildren Mike (Traci) Wald, Robin (Dan) Sedevie, Shannon Perez, Kristy Cook, Tiffany Keller, Tonya Ortega, Angela Ortega, Anthony Robles, Timothy Robles, Shana Heinrich, John (Lindsey) Heinrich, Sierra Heinrich, Christian Wolf, and Ally Wolf, great- grandchildren Megan ( special friend, Dan Kovar) Wald, Haley Wald, Kyler Renz, Kaya Heinrich, Elly Renz, Emmy Renz, and Natalie Heinrich, sisters, Frances Schmitt, Elsie Seiler, Mary Lou (Emil) Hamann, Donna (Richard) Senftner, and brother, Raymond Jund, along with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the God's Child Project are preferred.
