Cleatus James Shell Obituary (1984 - 2019)

Cleatus James Shell, 34, Mandan, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Sanford, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 31, 2019, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary service at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 30, 2019 at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Cleatus was born June 16, 1984 at Great Falls, MT, to Michael Shell and Edith Old Man Chief. At the age of 8, he was permanently placed with his foster parents, David and Helen "Lorraine" Siegfried. He was raised and educated in Elgin, ND and graduated in 2002 from Elgin High School. After high school he moved to Bismarck to attend United Tribes Technical College and took classes in computer science. Cleatus worked various types of jobs over the years, including Hardee's, Marlins, McDonalds and other janitorial jobs. Over the years, Cleatus enjoyed all types of loud music, movies, fast cars and tinkering with electronics. He was an avid Vikings fan and loved his cats, Binx and Shadow dearly. He is survived by his foster father, David Siegfried, Mandan; sisters, Karen Siegfried, Mandan, Kimberly Siegfried, Mandan and Ruby Ramsey, Bismarck; brother, Merle Red Bear, Bismarck; longtime partner, Stacy Erfle, Bismarck; nieces, Alyxiana "Bubbz" Ramsey, and Derryn Siegfried. Cleatus was preceded in death by his birth parents; brothers, Darin Siegfried and Donte Smith; and foster mother, Helen "Lorraine" Siegfried.
