Daniel was born January 4, 1952, at Bismarck, to Peter and Emma (Renner) Bauer. He was raised and educated in St. Vincent area. Dan was raised and worked with his family on the family farm and learned all the trades. In 1968 he met the love of his life, Kathy Doll and in 1971 they married. He farmed with Kathy and his father and brother until 1977 when they homesteaded their own farm with their two children, Francis, and Jennifer. They raised beef cattle and small grain for 24 years. Over his life, Dan dug his hands into many things. He worked for Kautzman Trucking for short time. He then moved to Schultz Creamery and ended with his dream job as field man for Dakota Country Cheese.

Dan was quite the handyman and inventor from a preteen and teen boy building go-karts, to Dan's Ditchen & Diggin in his 20s and 30s. Followed by designing, patenting and building the Skid Steer Rock Fork in his 40s and 50s. Through his life he loved to tell stories of his life experiences and all enjoyed listening. In his retirement he loved spending more time with his wife, camping and fishing whenever and wherever they could. They were able to take many vacations with numerous family members all over the country including Hawaii, and Cancun and Paris.

Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathy; his son, Francis (Rhonda) Bauer; his daughter, Jennifer Smith (special friend Mike); his grandchildren, Cameron, Dylan, Austin, Braelyn, Cassie, and Alli; brother, Jim (Ida) Bauer; sisters, Linda (Ron) Barth and Judy (Melvin) Berreth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dan was proceeded in death by his parents, Peter and Emma Bauer; brother, Francis; parents-in-law, Jake and Clem Doll; son-in-law, Glenn Smith Jr.; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Vogel and Karen Doll; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

You will forever be in our hearts, rest in peace until we meet again.
