Darrel Suchy

Darrel Suchy, 87, Mandan, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at a local care center. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with friends and family gathering one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place.

Darrel was born May 28, 1939, the third child of Joe and Alice (Klesalek) Suchy.

He married Eunice Nickel on June 25th, 1961, 65 years ago. They both graduated from Mandan High School.

He enjoyed living south of Mandan on the third-generation farm, leaving it to the fourth generation. He enjoyed watching the eagles, river flowing, driving thru the woods checking cows or sheep on the four-wheeler. He enjoyed helping with hay, driving the big blue tractor having the air conditioner on.

He was an elder for years at Zion Lutheran Church and thirty-one years as a director at Southwest Mutual Insurance, and his hobby was square dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice, two children, Robyn DeVault, Darren and Patricia Suchy, grandson, Matthew Suchy and special friend, Sarah Kovash, and the extra Volk family.

A big thank you to his family, friends, caregivers and clergy during his battle with Lewy Body, Parkinsons, and cancer.
