Dean Brown

Dean Brown, 88, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Legacy United Methodist Church, Bismarck with Rev. Brandon Vetter officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery, Baldwin, ND.

Dean was born August 17, 1935, at Bismarck, North Dakota, to Israel and Lydia (Braunstadter) Brown. He was raised and educated in Baldwin, ND.

Upon finishing grade school Dean went to work on the family farm. He also drove taxi for awhile and enjoyed bowling on a league. However, farming was his passion.

He married Marlene (Colebank) on November 12, 1966. Together they ran a grain and cattle farm in Baldwin until 1989. He served on the township board for many years.

They moved their family near Bismarck where Dean worked as a hired man for Peter Hogue. After retirement he continued to be the caretaker on the property and helping out the neighbors if they needed him.

Aside from farming Dean enjoyed hunting and especially fishing.

He is survived by; daughter Su Brown; son Mike Brown; grandchildren, Hannah and Noah; great grandson, Cylus; sister, Jackie Ochsner; brother, Curtis Brown; sister-in-law, Beatriz Colebank; numerous nieces and nephews; friend, Roger Schroeder.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; parents; grandson, Daryk Brown; aunts and uncles.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
