Dean Wayne Ramey

Dean Wayne Ramey, 59, Fort Yates, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at his home. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, March 4, 2016, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates, with Brother George Maufort, SDS officiating. A gathering of friends and family is scheduled for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Fort Yates.

Dean was born December 29, 1956, to Aaron and Alma (Nagel) Ramey at Fort Yates, where he was raised and educated. He worked several jobs, including security, custodian, road construction, and maintenance for Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. He also worked in Washington, DC as a law enforcement officer, and was a member of Pine Ridge. He liked watching TV and all sports. He also enjoyed volunteering for the elderly and had many cats as his pets.

He is survived by one sisters-in-law, Iris Ramey; and nieces, Barbara Little Owl, Janice Ramey, Daverine Honeyman, Alma Ramey, and Lisa Ramey; nephews, William Ramey and David Ramey Jr.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, David and Donald.
