Delilas "Dee" Sims Obituary (1942

Delilas "Dee" Sims, 79, Bismarck, ND, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Maple View Memory Care of Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Brethren Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Ryan Nordlund officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Dee was born in Bismarck on May 5, 1942, to Sam and Catherine (Lein) Vik. She was raised and educated in Driscoll, ND, where she graduated from High School in 1960, then graduated from BSC with a Business Degree. On April 2, 1965, she married Steve Platt in Driscoll, and they had two daughters, Cathy, and Carrie. On July 25, 1981, she married Dennis Sims, and they enjoyed many summers going to their lake home. Dee was a very special lady. She loved and trusted the Lord with all her heart. She was full of joy and the heart of family gatherings, when she arrived, the fun began. She loved spending time with family, going to the lake, and doing various projects. All her life she enjoyed helping others, she was genuine and loved with her whole heart. She owned and operated "Dee's Painting and Wallcovering" business for over thirty years. Her work was meticulous, and she enjoyed every minute of it. Her clients loved her, and many became life-long friends. Even as the horrible thief of Alzheimer's gradually stole our precious Dee, she still had that twinkle in her eyes and grin on her face when we visited. Dee's heart and smile were huge, and she will be dearly missed. She gave so much love, encouragement, and support to everyone around her. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Tab) Reiswig and Carrie Platt; four granddaughters, Kianna (Matt) Keeler, Courtney Reiswig, Kendra Platt, and Victoria Reiswig; four great-grandchildren, Lakiah, Caleb, Nolan, and Micah, all of Bismarck; three sisters, Rose (Gerry) Vinopal, Bradenton, Florida, Arlene Ferch and Lucy Hugelen, both of Bismarck; two brothers, Will Vik, Gulfport, MS, Doug (Myra) Vik, Payson, AZ; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Steve Platt and Dennis Sims; and brother-in-law, Chuck Ferch.
