Delmar J. Miner Sr.

Delmar J. Miner, 58, Fort Yates, North Dakota, died, Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Fort Yates. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2015, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Fort Yates with Rev. Lindsey Dwarf officiating. A wake service begins at 3:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2015, also at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Fort Yates.

Delmar was born October 11, 1957, at Fort Yates, to Delano and Shirley (Kidder) Miner. He was raised and educated Rapid City, South Dakota, where he participated in track in high school. He earned a Criminal Justice degree from Sitting Bull College. On March 31, 1983, he married Juanita Standing Crow in Fort Yates. Delmar enjoyed sewing and made star quilts to help support his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; two daughters, Farrah Miner (Nickolas Morrison), Mission, South Dakota, and Annie Miner (Eugene Featherman), Rapid City, South Dakota; four sons, Delmar (Sara) Miner Jr., Camp Pendleton, California, Hoksila Miner (Jennifer Summers, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Derek Miner, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and Cy Miner, LaPlante, South Dakota; one sister, Rita (Hector) Paz, Eagle Butte, South Dakota; two brothers, Paul Miner Sr., Fort Yates, and William Miner, Eagle Butte, South Dakota; aunt, JoAnn Hogan Luta; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Hayden.
