Delmar Dennis Nunn Obituary (1924 - 2015)

Delmar D. Nunn, 91, Dawson, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan with Chaplain Lori Lundblad officiating. Burial will be in the Dawson Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Delmar was born February 1, 1924, in rural Dawson, North Dakota, to John and Josie (Burkett) Nunn. In December 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and was discharged in January of 1947. He began work on the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1947 and retired from the railroad in 1985. Dell married Laura Hojian in June of 1962, and they resided in Dawson. He loved hunting and did for many years. He also enjoyed gardening, and watching and feeding the many kinds of birds that came to his feeders. Dell was an avid Yankees fan, but his greatest love was his family. Delmar leaves behind his wife, Laura, his son, Deland Nunn, Dawson; daughter, Danielle (Garvin) Carlson, Bismarck; four grandkids, Amber, Cody, Abbie, and Calie Carlson; two great grandson, Lucas and Austin; sister, Jone Barnick, Grand Forks; three sisters-in-law, Donna Nunn, Harriet Finch, and Edith Hojian; two brothers-in-law, Penny (Lorraine) Hojian, and Alvin (Phyllis) Hojian; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.
