Dorothy Frances Whitaker

Dorothy Whitaker, 74, Bismarck, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Augusta Place, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at DaWise Perry Funeral Services, Mandan with Rev. Dale Nabben officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be the hour prior to the services at DaWise Perry.

Dorothy was born July 13, 1945, at Flint, MI, to John and Ethel (Headrick) Whitaker. She was raised and educated in the Flint area where she graduated from Southwestern High School. She attended Mott Community College and worked for the city of Flint. Her favorite job was being the personal secretary for the mayor of Flint for a few years. She was an animal lover and always had animals around her.

She is survived by her son, Steward and wife Candace Whitaker, Dickinson; sister Julia Whitaker, Ohio; grandchildren, Curtis, Mikki, Ericka, Nathaniel and Arianna; and great grandchildren, Caleb and Max and Ciara.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Whitaker.
