Elthor E Guenthner Obituary (1922

Elthor E. Guenthner, 91, Bismarck, North Dakota, died, Monday, June 30, 2014, at Sanford off Collins, Mandan. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Thomas Marcis Jr., officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Elthor was born October 20, 1922 at Manhaven, North Dakota, to Tobias and Lydia (Kilber) Guenthner. He was raised and educated in a country school near Manhaven. In 1943 at the home of Elthor's parents, he married Emma Rogers. He was a farmer in Manhaven for many years until 1958, when he and Emma moved to Bismarck. He worked for Industrial Contractors Inc., as a bookkeeper/office manager until his retirement in 1983. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and enjoyed attending the CCC Reunions for many years. He served on various boards at Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, camping and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emma, Mandan; daughter, Roxanne (Brian) Rosin, Bismarck; son, John, Bismarck; grandchildren, Timothy Rosin, Kate (Christopher) Dorfschmidt, Rachel Rosin, Kristen Milliken; great grandson, Benjamin Rosin; sister, Valinda Droste, Wisconsin; brothers, Otto, Bismarck, Benny, Hazen; numerous, nieces and nephews. Elthor was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lorainne Kruckenberg, Ruth Oster, Anna Fetzer; brothers, Ervin, Reuben, and infant brother, Johnny.
