Erwin "Stubby" Plenty Chief, Sr. Obituary (1979 - 2020)

Erwin R. "Stubby" Plenty Chief Sr., 40, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020, in Butner, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 31, 2020, at Youth Activity Center, Cannonball, ND. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan with a Wake service beginning at 5:00 PM, at the Youth Activity Center, Cannonball. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Cannonball. Stubby was born May 1, 1979 at Fort Yates, ND, to Ervin and Delphine (Fasthorse) Plenty Chief. He was raised and educated in Cannonball and attended Cannonball Elementary School and Solen High School, where he graduated in 1998. Stubby enjoyed working. He worked numerous jobs around North Dakota, including transporting engineers and conductors for Burlington Northern Railroad. He also worked various positions at Prairie Knights Casino. He participated in the NO DAPL protest. Stubby was a talented mechanic and loved working on his vehicles with both of his sons, Erwin Jr. and Jacob Plenty Chief. He loved cruising, spending time with all five of his children, which he raised. He enjoyed spending time with his oldest grandson, Kingston Red Tomahawk, who he called his angel. Stubby had three grandsons, Kingston, Eric, and Easton. Unfortunately, Stubby did not get to meet Eric or Easton. Stubby leaves behind his five children, Shalinda (Elijah), Erwin Jr., Jacob, Jackie and Mathew Plenty Chief and his three grandchildren, Kingston Red Tomahawk, Eric Red Tomahawk, and Easton Plenty Chief. He is also survived by his parents, Ervin and Delphine (Fasthorse) Plenty Chief; three brothers, Ira (Lucinda) Plenty Chief, K. Riley (Samantha) Plenty Chief; and Robin Uses Arrow; one sister, Rolanda (Giz) Uses Arrow; and special nephew, Kirk Hollow; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends,. Stubby was preceded in death by two brothers, Eric Plenty Chief Sr. and Roland Uses Arrow; sister, Yyette Eagle; close friend, Shane "Shaq" Tikanye; paternal grandparents, Ervin Sr. and Myrtle (Cottonwood) Plenty Chief; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Cecelia (Martin) Fasthorse; nieces, Paige Lynn Busse and Erin Jade Plenty Chief; and numerous aunts and uncles.
