Francis "Frank" "Pops" Kenneth Zacher Obituary (1959

Frank Zacher, 62, Wilton, climbed the stairway to heaven while surrounded by his family on Thursday February 17, 2022, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2022, at DaWise Perry, Mandan with Pastor Lyle Herman officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 24, 2022, at DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at DaWise Perry. Frank was born April 29, 1959, at Bismarck, to George and Amelia (Krumm) Zacher. Trying to sum up Pops in a few words has made us think that swallowing a cow whole would be an easier undertaking. However, here goes. Between 1959 and 1980 Frank "Pops" grew up in Bismarck, ND. He started working in grade school as a dishwasher to help his family make ends meet. Later on, he worked construction and started playing music. All the while, flaming his lifelong passion for horses and motorcycles. Before he was 20 years old, he had two children, Tavi and Ty, raising them on his own until he met the most loyal love of his life, Lois. Pops met Lois Stinkeoway on October 10, 1980. He boasted mom did a good job of raising his kids. So, they decided to make it official and married on December 23, 1986. In 1987, they unofficially adopted Frank's little brother, Bob Zacher (Uncle Booby). We speculate that this was Pops' way of helping others whilst benefiting also. Uncle Booby couldn't get into much trouble on the farm and mom needed help feeding all the animals. Either way it was one of dad's many good doings to ensure those he cared about were protected. Pops had a passion for horses and motorcycles, enjoying both throughout his lifetime. He was in his element hosting trail rides, announcing for his kid's horse shows, and buying, selling, and training horses. Neighbors often called upon him to help move and work their cattle. His enthusiasm and eye for good horses eventually turned into a successful business of horse-trading and training. It also helped his passion of horses was passed onto his children. Together they traded and trained many horses. Pops convinced his children, including Bob, for a long time that horses cannot buck going uphill. Note: this is false. Frank and Lois settled in the rural Wilton area and established the Fubar Ranch. Pops loved his family and friends with his whole being and it was common to see family and friends gathered regularly at the Ranch. Frank and Lois hosted many parties at the Ranch including their annual Ham 'n' Jam. Frank's first and longest career was in music. He was a musician for 25+ years even recording a record with Wayne Douglas and the Badlands. However, his star power really showed with his inception of the band FUBAR. Franky Fubar was known for not only his extraordinary drumming skills and infamous black hat but largely for his magnetic character. Franky Fubar was always the top entertainer of any party. Pops met many friends playing music over-the-road. He was so well liked that Fubar was hired as a house band for weeks at a time. Sometimes he brought random friends home for a few weeks, giving them a place to stay to help them get back on their feet. He knew what it felt like to have your ass kicked and if he could help someone out, he would. These types of kind gestures and his caring nature earned him the nickname "Pops." He didn't have much but would give you whatever he had if it would help. He lived the life of a broke rockstar but rich with laughter, friends, and stories. After coming off the road full-time, along with continuing to horse ranch, Pops became a union painter. This allowed him to pursue his dream of putting up an indoor riding arena. However, his health started to fail, putting a halt to the project. Pops followed his dreams, not so much the rules. He was never ashamed to share the fact that he did 10 years in federal prison. He was a man of character, bravery, and loyalty. He routinely sent his family cards and notes while he was away to "college" he would say, as that is where he got his GED. Pops never let life kick him down too long. His passion for motorcycles and loyal brotherhood led him to become a founding member of Hammer Heads MC in 2015. A few years later, he became a charter member of the HAMC ND Nomads. He loved attending events and going on motorcycle runs. The nickname Pops followed him into his motorcycle endeavors. He was a road warrior throughout his life whether it was trading horses, playing music, or riding motorcycles. People around the world loved and respected Pops. Pops was solid in whatever he did and whichever role: as spouse, father, brother, uncle, friend, and protector. He had his own ailments, but he oftentimes put them aside to care for others during their time of sickness, need, sorrow, or pain. Family was important to him and, with the help of Lois, stayed on top of the care and visitation for his brother and nephew. Ensuring they were together for family functions, coordinating the travel and opening their home to them. Pops wanted everyone to be included. Pops loved his family and friends fiercely, and they loved him. What Pops loved the most was being "papa" and spending time with his grandchildren. He was good at imitating their facial expressions, in between spoiling them, feeding them junk food, teaching them how to ride horses, bikes, and drive cars. He and Lois attended all parties, concerts, plays, graduations, etc. It did not matter the weather or if event was 15 or 150 minutes, they would make sure they made it to support their grandchildren. Many hearts are broken with the loss of Pops, and it is difficult to sum up his beautiful soul into a few words but if we could it would be something like this: Everybody loved Pops, but Pops loved us more. He is survived by his spouse, Lois Zacher; children, Tavi (Andy) Leier and Ty Zacher; grandchildren, Taeryn Seibel, Domanik and Zoe Zacher; great-grandchildren, Dayton Zacher, Brekken and Brynlee Casson; and siblings, Bruce Zacher, Bob (Jo) Zacher, and Robin (John) Davis. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, George and Amelia Zacher; sibling, Jerry Zacher; and daughters-in-law Gina Zacher and Rhonda Zacher.
