Garon Mark Carry Moccasin Obituary (1963

Garon \u0027"Mark\u0027 Carry Moccasin, 49, Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Porcupine, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Mandan. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, August 24, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church, Porcupine, North Dakota with Fr. Basil Atwell officiating. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Porcupine. Visitation is scheduled for 9:00 AM until time of service at the church on Friday in the Porcupine Community Center. Mark was born June 4, 1963, at Fort Yates, to Clarence \u0027"Bunky\u0027 Goudreaux and Mae Carry Moccasin. He attended BIA Elementary and Standing Rock High School where he graduated in 1982. He played basketball, football, and baseball. He wished he could have been a better student to make his family proud. Following graduation he joined the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Fort Lee, Virginia, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona as a member of the Communications Command. From there he served in Wertheim, Germany with the field artillery. He was honorably discharged in 1988 and moved back to Standing Rock where he worked for the ambulance service and Fort Yates Public Elementary. He also worked at Prairie Knights Casino as a Security Officer until his accident. He is survived by two sons, Sid (Nicole) Carry Moccasin and Garon Carry Moccasin Jr., all of Fort Yates; four sisters, Doreen (Verle) Red Tomahawk, Hazel (Dorven) White Bear, all of Porcupine, Barbara (John) D\u0027Agostino, Minneapolis, and Bobbie Ray (Demetric) Sage-Ranger, Mesa, Arizona; four brothers, Randal (Adele) White, Porcupine, Dana (Trina) Carry Moccasin, McLaughlin, South Dakota, Robert Goudreaux, Minneapolis, and Wayne Carry Moccasin, Cannon Ball; adopted brothers, Jay Holding Eagle, Fargo and Virgil Taken Alive, Little Eagle, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Romeo and Enzo Carry Moccasin; uncle, Jerome Carry Moccasin, Porcupine; special nephew, Mitchell (Dyneil) Carry Moccasin, nephews, Randy White Jr., Devon White; three nieces, Michelle Carry Moccasin, Tina (Ian) American Horse, and Melody Red Tomahawk. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Collette Carry Moccasin, uncles, Vincent, Augie, and Mike; aunt Roletta, and special nephew, V.J. Red Tomahawk. Arrangements for his funeral were made by Mark himself.
