Germaine Helen Leyer Obituary (1943

Germaine Helen Leyer, 78, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away November 16, 2021, at a local care center. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan, ND, with Rev. Keith Ritchie officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota. Germaine was born April 28, 1943, in Bismarck, to Antone and Alice (Baumgartner) Schlosser. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1962. On October 18, 1977, she married Philip Leyer in Grand Forks. Germaine was assistant manager at Country Kitchen for five years, she worked as a secretary at General Trading, Heating and Air Conditioning, in Colorado, and for the University of Mary for 14 years. She also helped found and develop a half-way house. Her hobbies were crocheting and growing Elderberry Bushes. She is survived by one daughter, Carla (Duane) Vetter, Bismarck; one son, Darry (Shannon) Steichen, Bismarck, sister, Julie (Mark) Wassink; one grandchild, Casey (Jori) Vetter; two step grandchildren, Kyle Dunn and Holly Gjesdal; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Sawyer Vetter; three step-great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kai Dunn, Grayson Gjesdal; brother-in-law, Rolf Svanes; and several nieces and nephews. Germaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Kenneth and Anthony Schlosser; and sister, Carol Svanes.
