JoAnn K. Morin, 64, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. As per JoAnn's wishes she has been cremated and will be buried in Great Falls, Montana at a later date. A small, private wake was held Monday February 13, 2017, in Mandan.
JoAnn was born March 29, 1952, in Great Falls, to Joseph and Louise (Vaughn) Meyer. She was raised and educated in Great Falls. After high school she moved to England, Butte Montana, San Jose California, Grand Junction Colorado and Bismarck. JoAnn was employed as a bartender in Great Falls, a mother and wife in England, a daycare provider in Butte, and an administrative assistant at Sun Micro in San Jose, then a mother and grandmother in Grand Junction. She enjoyed bowling and competed on leagues in Montana and California. Her hands were always busy with a craft; macram, leather upholstery, crocheting, painting memory boxes/books, or reading an adventure novel, holding a drool cup as she drooled over her favorite actor/singer Elvis or accentuated what she was saying. At five feet tall she was a force to be reckoned with in billiards and won many regional and state tournaments. She spoke fondly of Minnesota Fats and enjoyed telling of her professional tour. Her toughest and most rewarding life experience was as a mother and grandmother. Her "kids" were her pride and joy.
JoAnn's health steadily declined over the past 10 years. She moved to Edgewood Vista, Bismarck two years ago as exacerbation of heart failure and episodes of unresponsiveness become more frequent. She spoke highly of her primary caregivers and nurse. JoAnn was a charismatic, loving, charming sister and friend who loved to visit and giggle while sharing a strawberry-rhubarb pie....the entire pie! She will be greatly missed.
JoAnn lives on in the memories of, her mother and step-father Louise and Wilbert Harsch, Pick City North Dakota; one son, Jeremiah Laro, Grand Junction; three sisters, Leanne O'Gara, Great Falls, Annetta "Nettie " (Mike) Forrest Mandan, and Cynthia (Jason) Schauer, Washburn North Dakota; brothers: Tony (Brenda) Meyer, Ranburn, Alabama, Dan (ChrisAnn) Meyer and Richard (MaryAnn) Lucas of Great Falls, Larry (Janet) Lucas, Bismarck; two granddaughters, Trinity and Brynlee of Grand Junction; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
