John Eugene Schneider Obituary (1940 - 2022)

John Eugene Schneider, 81, Mandan, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, at a local care center. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at DaWise Perry/Mandan Crematory with Deacon Randy Frohlich officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a Rosery beginning at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at DaWise Perry. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan. John, son of Alex and Rose, entered the world on December 11, 1940. After graduating from Center High School, dad then enlisted into the army during the Korean War. On June 27, 1964, John married his soul mate, Evelyn Ann Ressler from St. Anthony. Together they raised four children in Mandan. Throughout his life John held a variety of jobs, truck driver, warehouse, driving van for Easter Seals and custodian. John enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son Wayne. Playing cards and games with his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren was also high on his list of things to do. When dad had alone time coloring, word searches, and game shows occupied his time. His ability to match color schemes was evident as he would give his colored pictures away to anyone who asked. We enjoyed sitting and doing this with dad during our visits at Miller Pointe. Listening to dad yell at the stupid people on the game shows was a one-of-a-kind opportunity. He always said that they put the dumbest people on so they can't win. During his time at Miller Pointe he developed strong bonds with his caregivers. Bonds that helped him get through the Covid times where visitation was just through the window. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, Wayne; parents, Alex and Rose; sisters, Eileen Horning and Alice Ziemann. He is survived by his daughters Annette (Jim) Bender, Lori Schneider, Peggy (Terry) Reinhardt; brothers Thomas (Mary) and Ronald (Nancy); brothers-in-law, Bill Ziemann (Alice), Mike Horning (Eileen), Kenneth (Peggy) Ressler and Bob (Bert) Ressler; grandchildren, Joseph and Robert (Annette and Jim), Cody and Jakob (Wayne), Trenten and Johnathen (Lori), Tyler, Eveanna, Samantha, Zoey, Mackenzie and Mariah (Peggy and Terry); and great-grandchildren, Aaron (Tyler) and Noah ( Jakob) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
