Joseph Wetch, 89 of Bismarck ND, was greeted by his guardian angel and taken to a place as he always called “paradise”, on October 8, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Bismarck. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Joe was born December 23, 1934, to Phillip and Theckla (Zerr) Wetch in Fort Yates, ND. When he was in the middle of his teenage years, he moved to Bismarck, ND. He worked at Golf Courses and construction jobs.
He met and married Rosemary (Jahner) Wetch in 1955 and had their first child that same year. Joe began having an interest in the cattle business. Rosemary and Joe found and purchased a home with farmland, where he successfully ran his cattle business which eventually had expanded into much more. They not only had been expanding their little family into a big family, but in 1981 Joe had founded and created another business. He opened his own salvage yard, which is known by tons of people as Wetch Auto Wrecking. Which to this day is still open.
Joe was a very successful man, who had a heart of pure gold. He never was the type of person to judge others, he treated everyone equally. He always helped everyone as much as he could. His most joyful times in life were being able to have his family out at the farm playing, visiting and just enjoying themselves. He loved watching all the generations of kids throughout our family coming out and growing up on the farm that he made home. He was our family’s rock, he kept everyone together and grounded, life as we used to know it won’t ever feel the same without him around. But we can only move forward and wait til our days in paradise come to be with him again.
Joe is survived by Tony, Al, Virginia (siblings), Fred Baker (Close Family Friend), Laurie (Bill) Elhard, Joseph “Joey” Wetch, Julie (Dale) McCrea, Brandon Ball, James Wetch, Donny Wetch. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by Rosemary Wetch, Patty Jo and David Wetch and numerous brothers and sisters.
