Juanita "Nita" White Twin Obituary (1954 - 2023)

Juanita "Nita" White Twin, passed away on May 8, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at St. Gabrial Episcopal Church, Solen. Juanita "Nita" White Twin was born September 14 ,1954 to Charles, and Julia (Kahniga) White Twin in Mandan ND. Juanita grew up in Solen and in Cannonball. Juanita attended elementary school in Cannonball, and at Fort Yates Boarding School also known as "The Dorms" to those who attended. Juanita then started at Solen High School from 1969-1972, where she was a pom-pom girl, and enjoyed playing volleyball beside her sister girl Shirley. Juanita attended Sipi Technical School in Albuquerque NM, where she was learning to become a cosmetologist. Juanita then moved to Hawaiian Gardens, California to be with her sister Darlene, where she spent a few years; then returned to Solen. Upon returning she met Gerald C. Silk. They lived together in Fort Yates for many years with this union she had 5 Children, daughters Julie Silk, Bismarck, and Jerilyn (Steve) Silk, Fort Yates, ND; sons, Jeremy Silk, Jason Silk, Solen, and Jenilee "Sweety" (Miranda) Silk, New Town, ND. In 1987 they split, and she returned to Solen ND. In 1989 Juanita then met the love of her life Edgar B. Fast Horse. The two were inseparable, always outside going tipsila hunting, berry picking, wild tea picking; or just cruising the back roads of Solen, Cannonball area, or going towards the big lake to visit loved ones. Edgar's passing in 2010 brought a lot of sadness to Juanita despite everything she lived the rest of her days with her grand dog, Scubee. Scubee was very loved and cared for during the 18 years she was with Nita. Sadly, Scubee passed away and Nita laid her to rest right outside near her bedroom window where Nita could still greet her in the mornings, and nights. After Scubee's passing Nita's niece and nephew Georgette and William surprised her with Cocoa, whom she loved very much. Cocoa is also fisty. If she gets to know you, she might let you in Nita's bubble. Cocoa was very protective of Nita, and is missing her tremendously. Nita and Edgar used to love to sit outside and watch the thunderstorm roll in. While listening to 1270 AM on an old battery powered radio. They both liked to take a cruise around town, when it started to rain. They enjoyed a good thunderstorm together. Nita enjoyed playing cards (whist), and dominoes with her friends and family. No matter where the set up she was ready to win. Plus, she loved listening to those good old country tunes. Whether it was making her favorite meals, cleaning, or when she was behind the grill. Either way she was listening to her jams and could still be watching tv. Nita loved to cook, especially when her children and grandchildren came home. Spending hours in the back yard is what we all enjoyed, it was always a good time and always good seeing a smile on her face. Playing horseshoes, making jokes and laughing continuously with her family is what she was about. Nita would give her shoes up for somebody who needed them. She was such a loving, caring, and genuine soul. Everything she did was out of love. In her lifetime Nita was a hard-working woman, she held many different jobs including working at the Prairie Knights Casino, and the Goodheart Community Center for many years. Juanita is survived by her five children; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Darlene; brother, Robert (Irene); nieces, Dawn "Umpa" (Alberto) Lopez, Lori, Amanda, Amelia, Corrine, Kristen, and Georgette; nephews, Armando, Kenneth, William, Tom, and Clarence; along with her good friends and extended family. Juanita was proceeded in death by her parents Charles, and Julia White Twin; niece, Anne; sister, Shirley; brothers, Jimmy and Charles White Twin; and brother-in-law, Benny Halfe.
