Kim L. Kurtz-Bohn Obituary (1953 - 2017)

Kim Kurtz-Bohn, 63, Mandan, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in Mandan, after a courageous battle with lung disease. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 15, 2017, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, with Rev. Dale Nabben, officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hazelton Cemetery, Hazelton, North Dakota. Kim was born December 10, 1953, in Bismarck, to Calvin and LaVonne (Olson) Kurtz. She was raised and educated in Hazelton where she graduated from high school in 1971. She attended Bismarck Junior College where she earned an Associate's Degree. On October 16, 2015, she married Dean Bohn in Mandan. During her working years, Kim was an aide to Governor Art Link, an insurance underwriter, a business manager at the Falkirk Mine, and a medical transcriptionist for 20 years, until her retirement in 2013. She had a deep empathy for mistreated animals. Her and Dean enjoyed exploring all aspects of nature on day-long walks. Kim had a knack for growing beautiful plants both indoors and outdoors. She loved the piano and taught piano lessons to many. She is survived by her husband, Dean; mother, LaVonne (Christopher) Kurtz-Scott; two sisters, Dawn (Roger) Rostvet and Melody (Jake) Irvin; two brothers, Corey Kurtz and Joel Kurtz, Dean's sons, Christopher (Gena) Bohn and Michael (Jen) Bohn; nine nieces and nephews, six grand-nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Kim was preceded in death by her father; and her very special dog Ginny.
