Laurence "Bud" Smith Obituary (1923 - 2015)

Laurence "Bud" Smith, 92, Bismarck, North Dakota, formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, with Rev. Rebecca Aardahl officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, North Dakota on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 3:00 PM. Laurence was born February 9, 1923, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Samuel and Tella (Kjonos) Smith. He was raised and educated in Fargo. On April 10, 1943, he married Helen Rinas in Fargo. Laurence owned and operated LR Smith Disposal Services in Fargo until retiring in 1990. He loved spending time and teaching his wife and daughter to fish at the family cabin on Little Cormarant Lake in Minnesota. He enjoyed watching western movies, listening to western music, and relaxing on his daughter's deck watching the wildlife. Laurence always stayed up-to-date on current events and the news. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Becky Larson, both of Bismarck; sister, Shirley Little, Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Joseph) Casey, Michael Larson, and Gregory Larson and fianc (Brittany Mapes); two nephews; three nieces, and numerous special friends. Laurence was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Calvin Larson; brother, Carl; two sisters Connie Cormier, and Elaine Smith.
