Leonica Alkire

Leonica Theresa Alkire, 75, Mandan, passed away January 21st, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am, Friday, January 31st, 2025 at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services with Fr. John Floberg officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the Funeral home. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.

Leonica was born September 21, 1949, in Bismarck, to Monica Two Bear. She was raised in Cannon Ball and graduated from Solen High School. She went on to receive her Master's Degree at the University of Mary. She initially started at the Bureau of Indian Affairs at the state capital as an administration assistant. After that she served in roles as the administration assistant for tribal chairman and also a tribal court administrator. In 1987 she started her career at Sitting Bull College as an account payable technician. It was also during this time she was working towards her Master's at the University of Mary. She served on the board for SBC from 1995-1999. In 2000 she served as comptroller/vice president of finance until her retirement in 2014. Leonica made lifelong friendships while she worked at Sitting Bull College with Renee Vermillion and Gloria Reiter.

Leonica loved taking long road trips with Lyle, spending time with family and friends, going to horseshoe tournaments, playing bingo and going to the casino. She was an avid Vikings fan later in life. She was always listening to old country music. Leonica cherished her grandchildren.
Leonica's loved ones will always remember her sense of humor, kindness, intelligence, and her ability to always give great advice. She served as a role model to many, and inspired others to always overachieve and seek out education.

She is survived by her 3 sons: Raymond<Stevie> (Missy) Glaser, Girard Glaser, Wade (Tammy) Glaser; daughter, Robbie (AJ) Agard ; godparent to Alecia Two Bear: granddaughters, Sasha Glaser, Saige (Lee) Haecherl; grandsons, Jade Glaser, Neko Glaser, Schad Agard, Shang Agard; sisters,Carole Two Bears, Doris One Horn, Regina Conica, Greta Conica; brothers, Joesph(Suzy) Two Bear; cousins, Willard Two Bear, Dorinda Two Bear; special friends, Renee Vermillions, Gloria Reiter, and Elaine Mclaughlin.

Leonica was preceded in death by husband Lyle Alkire, ex-husband Raymond Glaser; mother Monica One Horn; grandparents Dora and Joseph Two Bear; aunt, Verna Ermineskin; uncles, Gilbert BooBoo Two Bear, Patrick Two Bear, Neil Two Bear; sisters, Shirley Black Cloud, Matilda Two Bear, Twila Two Bear; brothers, Ivan Two Bear, Maynard Two Bear, Kenneth Two Bear, Kevin One Horn.
