Lorraine Rambousek loved God and her family with all of her heart. All of it. Every day. Her days on earth are done now, but her love is not gone. It lives in the good nature of her children and in the memories of all who knew her. It lives in all those brass and nickel and silver and gold angel charms Lorraine could not pass by as she strolled through a gift shop or secondhand store. She had an affinity for angels for as long as she could remember, and she is one now. If you're lucky, she's yours. Lorraine, age 79, lived a full, faithful and satisfying life. She died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin with Rev. Jeffrey Zwack officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 2-4:00 PM, Thursday, August 29th at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 6-7:00 PM Thursday, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM; and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Glen Ullin. Lorraine was "good" at life. It's said of some people that they never met a stranger, and that certainly was Lorraine's outlook. She was genuine and her smile " always heartfelt, but wry and knowing when you deserved it " was an invitation to let down your guard. Lorraine was born May 10, 1934, in Almont, the daughter of William and Magdalena (Bahm) Kohler. She was raised on the family farm and through eighth grade walked each day to a one-room country school in Morton County. On January 19, 1954, Lorraine married Leonard "Rocky" Rambousek at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Glen Ullin. They farmed north of Dickinson until 1957, when they moved to Glen Ullin and opened the Gateway Bar \u0026 Restaurant. Lorraine's courage, quick thinking, and indomitable spirit were tested almost immediately when a fire destroyed the business in 1958. The couple lived in an adjacent apartment, and Lorraine grabbed their two young children, evacuated the burning building and helped Rocky rebuild the business " downtown, as Rocky's Bar and Lounge " within a few months. For the next 40 years, Lorraine was a staple of the Glen Ullin community, active in the Lioness Club and a whirlwind as she helped run Rocky's Bar and served as the manager for her husband's polka band, Rocky \u0026 The Happy Valley Gang. Rocky passed away September 5, 1999. If today you hear thunder, you might choose to believe that it's the happy footsteps of a couple who've waited 14 years for another waltz. Lorraine is survived by her son, Randy "Sparky" (Diane), Bismarck; two daughters, Susan (Phil) Seifert, Bismarck, and Sandy (Rod) Leach, Jefferson, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Tricia (Brian) Wild, Rachel (Tony) Spilde, and P.J. (Missy) Seifert, all of Bismarck; five great-grandchildren; brothers Bill Kohler of Dickinson, John (Sandy) Kohler of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jim (Kathy) Kohler of Mandan, and Tom (special friend Marsha Bechtold) and Gene (special friend Debbie Beierlein) Kohler of Glen Ullin; and sisters Shirley (Russ) Staiger of Bismarck and Arlene Hord of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister LaVonne Copeland. Lorraine loved flowers, but wished instead for any memorial donations to be sent to the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund in Glen Ullin. Please sign her guestbook and share memories at www.dawiseperry.com.
