Mardell Holle Obituary (1934 - 2024)

Mardell Holle, 90, New Salem, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Peace Church, New Salem with Pastor Brian Held officiating. Burial will be in Peace Cemetery. A Gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mardell A. (Toepke) Holle was born January 15, 1934 on the family farm NE of Judson, ND, the daughter of Emil and Millie (Kuller) Toepke. She attended New Salem grade and High School graduating in 1952. She then worked at Gaebe Pharmacy in New Salem until the fall when she married Robert Holle on October 10, 1952. They farmed, mainly dairy, 6 1/2 miles NW of New Salem for 55 years, at which time their youngest son, Paul, took over the operation. They remained on the farm, helping where they could and enjoying being in the country. Mardy was active in Peace Church, serving on several boards, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School. She loved her home and the farm, and enjoyed gardening, doing cross stitch, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with the family, especially the grandchildren. She leaves behind daughters Millie of the Black Hills, SD; and Cindy Marboe of Dickinson, ND; sons Charles (Catherine) and Paul, of New Salem, ND, eight grandchildren: Joseph (Heather), Sarah (Luke Heinle), Karl, Jacob and Raymond Holle and Jenny, Emily and Mandy (Rory Irwin), and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, parents, Emil and Millie Toepke, three brothers, Clarence, Chester, and Wallace Toepke, and sisters, Mildred Gaebe, Lucille Webb, Dorothy Friesz, and granddaughter Holly Marboe.
