Mary Ann "Mitzi" Paul Obituary (1932

Mary Ann Paul, 83, Mandan, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Sanford Continuing Care Center off Collins, Mandan. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at United Church of Christ, Bismarck, North Dakota with Rev. Gretchen Deeg officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. \t Mary Ann was born May 15, 1932, at St. Cloud, Minnesota, to George and Mary (Sanicola) Langness. She was raised and educated in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and graduated from St. Cloud High School. Following high school, she attended Grinnell College in Iowa and graduated with a BA in English and did graduate work at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. She taught English in Crookston, Minnesota, and Bismarck High School. She served on various boards of the United Church of Christ, League of Women Voters, Charter H. of the P.E.O., Mandan Fortnightly Book Club, Mandan Hospital Auxiliary, and other charitable organizations. She married Jack Paul on August 23, 1953, in Minot, North Dakota. In her early years was an artist. She enjoyed reading and was an avid swimmer at the Mandan Community Centers and member of the 100-mile club. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack, Mandan; two sons, William (Stephanie), Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Steven (Anh), Richfield, Minnesota. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
