Mathias M. Kuntz Obituary (1950

Mathias "Matt" M. Kuntz, 68, Fort Rice, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Jarad Wolf officiating. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 30, with a Vigil/Rosary service at 7:00 PM at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. will be in Burial will be private at Mandan Union Cemetery. Matt was born October 21, 1950 in Bismarck, to Mathias J. and Rose J. (Barnhard) Kuntz. He was raised on the family farm and educated in Solen and Mandan. He married Lenore Rebenitsch on November 30, 1973, with whom he raised six daughters. He worked in construction his whole life, but farming was his passion. He spent his spare time farming, shopping around at auctions for Case tractors, and sharing his knowledge of past farming practices with his kids and grandkids. Matt was a perfectionist in his work, and could build a fence, straight as an arrow, just by eyeballing it. Matt retired from Capitol City Construction in 2017, and became a full-time professional grandpa, coming up with and sharing fun projects with the grandkids. It would not be unusual to see them building a hunting shack, baling hay together, or enjoying a driving lesson. Matt is survived by his wife, Lenore; mother, Rose; six daughters, Rachel (Paul Hartman) Kuntz, Rhonda (Chad) Hanson, Rebecca (Garett) Massey, Sarah (Austin Arbach) Kuntz, Samantha (Justin Seifert) Kuntz, and Sandra (Chris Sagers) Kuntz; two sisters, Eleanor (Donald) Miller, and Rosella (Eugene) Faul; one brother, John; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Wyatt Hanson; Taylor Kuntz; Jameson, Caitlyn, Caleb, and Eli Massey, Ethan Hartman-Kuntz, and Wako Haff; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Matt was preceded in death by his father and infant brother, Joseph.
