Melvin Bethke

Melvin M. Bethke, 52, New Salem, ND, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at a Bismarck Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 25, 2024, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, New Salem.

Melvin was born November 14th, 1971 in Mandan, ND to Marvin and Arlene Bethke. He was raised on the Family Farm north of New Salem and attended school in Center, ND.

He developed a love for farming and ranching at a very early age. Melvin helped his family on their dairy farm up until 1977 and went into a new adventure of herd cows and pigs. He also had a variety of crops and was very proud of his silage piles. He was a jack of all trades whom people would frequently call for advice.

For those who knew Melvin through the years, knew his passion and extreme dedication to his work. His knowledge of farming and ranching was UNBELIEVABLE (a word he used daily).

He met the love of his life, Becca in December 2012. They made their home on the family farm in summer of 2014. He not only opened his heart to her but also to his 3 step daughter whom he loved and treated as his own.

The light of his life, Maverikk was born on June 4, 2015. He cherished his roll as a father and his charismatic personality and teasing nature always brought joy into the life of his loved one. If someone would call for help he would literally drop what he was doing and without any hesitation go lend a helping hand.

The bond he shared with his dad Marvin developed the bond that he was growing between Melvin and his son Maverikk. When you got all three of them together no one could ever get a word in as they were 3 peas in a pod. He was the family rock and kept everyone together and grounded.

Melvin unexpectedly passed away and entered heaven's gates on October 19, 2024 at the age of 52.

Surviving family members include his dad Marvin (New Salem, ND) his wife Becca and son Maverikk (New Salem, ND). Sisters Vickie Calheum (Bismarck, ND) Juanita (Tim) Hoffman (Nevada). His three step daughters Kennedy (Michael) Pippenger (New England, ND) BrynnDyn Walking Elk (Mandan, ND) and TimbyrBree (Chauncey) Dittus (New Salem, ND).

Melvin was proceeded in death by his mom Arlene, grandparents and brother-in-law Don Calheim.

His family has truly been blessed to have shared their life with such and incredible man. He will truly be missed by all.
