Montie Claude Galt Obituary (1955 - 2015)

Montie Claude Galt, 60, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Sanford off Collins, Mandan, after a long and hard battle against cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck, with Fr. Terry Wipf officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Montie was born May 19, 1955, at Cambridgeshire, England, to Bill and Christiane (Colle) Galt. He was raised and educated up until the age of 6 in England/France after that he attended many of different schools on the Airforce bases where his dad was stationed. He graduated from Lakenheath HS RAS, Lakenheath, United Kingdom in 1974. He moved back to the United States to attend North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton ND where he earned a degree in diesel mechanics from Wahpeton College in May 1977. On April 28, 1979, he married Claudine M. Vogle in Richardton. Montie worked for John Deere in Bismarck ND for a time, and worked at Falkirk Mine in Falkirk ND for 30 years. He enjoyed racquetball, golf, pool, hiking and hunting and watching football (he was a huge Chicago Bears fan). Montie especially loved traveling, vacationing, and enjoying life by playing with grandkids and spending time with friends and family. He always kept a positive attitude when it came to his battle with cancer. He always said "We will keep fighting the fight". He is survived by his wife, Claudine; two daughters, Michelle Loesch, Glenham, South Dakota, and Natallie Schmidt and fiance Randy Kovar, Flasher ND; two sisters, Anick (Arnie) Wallace, Coldwater, Mississippi, and Dominique Wilfong and Benjamin "Bud" Jeffers Jr., Choctaw, Oklahoma; one brother, Donnie Galt, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Leandra and Ayden Schmidt, and Tanner and Jaelyn Loesch; and many nieces and nephews. Montie was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Don Wilfong.
