Nathalia "Dolly" Gugel Obituary (1937 - 2026)

Nathalia “Dolly” Gugel, 88, Mandan, North Dakota, died, Wednesday, April 22, at Sunset Care Center. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, May 1, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Waltz, officiating. Vigil service service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Sunset Care Center, Mandan and visitation will continue from 5-7:00 PM, Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services. Visitation continues, one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Dolly was born May 4, 1937, in Flasher, North Dakota, to Joseph and Nathalia (Tishmack) Dirk. She was raised in Raleigh, North Dakota and attended school in McIntosh High School. On June 25, 1960, she married Glenn R. Gugel at McIntosh, South Dakota. She owned and operated a laundromat in McLaughlin, South Dakota until the death of her husband in 1982. In 1986 she received her nursing degree from Presentation College, Aberdeen, South Dakota. Dolly worked for Medcenter One Care Center and the Mandan Swing Bed. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, sewing club and birthday club. Dolly enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and traveling. She is survived by four sons and four daughters-in-law, Robert and Liz Gugel, Longmont, Colorado, Duane and Theresa Gugel, Iowa City, Iowa, Alan and Sandy, Oak Park, Illinois, and Gary and Sandy Gugel, Mandan; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Clementine and Ed Robichard, Renton, Washington, Martha and Bill Gregory, Philipsburg, Montana, Hildargard Mock, Portland, Indiana, Dorothy and Alex Benko, Moses Lake, Washington; one brother John Dirk, Moses Lake, Washington; eight grandchildren, Alice and Sophie Gugel, Ashley Stover (Brian Wingler) Molly and Michael Gugel, Ivan, Max and Bay Gugel, Great Grandchild Rowan Wingler, three sisters-in-law, Caroline Nehl, Edith Dirk and Jean Dirk. Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn, four brothers, Vitalis, Eddy, Benny and Tony Dirk; two sisters, Molly Knispel and Anne Jahner and infant brother Konrad and infant sister, Eva and granddaughter, Sabrina Gugel and Great Grandchild Kennedy Parkin-Stover.
