Odette M. Elk Obituary (1975 - 2013)

Odette M. Elk, 38, Fort Yates, North Dakota, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 20, 2013, in the Youth Activity Center, Cannon Ball, with Rev. Mike Kills Pretty Enemy officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2013, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service in the Youth Activity Center. Burial will be in Big Lake Cemetery, Cannon Ball. Odette was born May 7, 1975, at Fort Yates, to Wilson and Delphine (Uses Arrow) Elk Sr. She attended school in Cannon Ball and Solen, and graduated from Standing Rock High School in 1993. She worked at various jobs. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and visiting friends. She always had a smile for everyone throughout her life. She had six children and did everything for her children. Odette loved being a mom and cared and loved her children. She is survived by her father, Wilson Elk Sr., one daughter, Katie Red Tomahawk; five sons, Marlowe Jr., and Cole Red Tomahawk, Johnston, Quintin, and Nicolas Elk, all of Fort Yates; two sisters, Bernadette Elk, Bismarck, Margaret (Matt) Little, Cannon Ball; three brothers, Justus (Yvette) Elk, Jerren (Shauna) Elk, and Daniel Elk; adopted brothers, Hans Young Bird, Peyton White Bull, Jesse Bendickson; grandma, Christine Alkire, all of Fort Yates; special friend, Marlowe Red Tomahawk Sr., and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Odette was preceded in death by her mother, Delphine (Uses Arrow) Elk; two brothers, Wilson Elk Jr., Gerald Bede Elk, grandparents, Jack and Melda (Mentz) Elk, Noah and Charlotte (Iron Road) Uses Arrow Sr.
