Olga Laverne Elkins Obituary (1936 - 2019)

Olga Laverne Elkins, 82, Bismarck, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan with Deacon John Bachmeier officiating. Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Olga was born December 5, 1936, at rural Wilton, North Dakota, to Steve and Parasciva "Pearl" (Dowhaniuk) Hruby. She graduated from Regan High School in 1955. She married Thomas Elkins on December 29, 1956. They lived their entire life in Bismarck. He passed away in 1995. Olga's life-long career was spent working at the Ellingson Eye Clinic. She was also a life-long member of the Eagles. Olga loved her family and provided anything she could to help her family members, relatives and friends. Her home was always open to anyone that needed a temporary home and especially to her family and close friends. Her time and labor rendered to those that knew her could never be duplicated. Her family expanded in 1963 when she and Tom adopted both Bradley and Denise. There were in seventh heaven upon their arrival. Her later years of declining health were spent at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, with the extended comfort of her two dogs and Bradley's devoted and tender care. We would like to thank Missouri Slope Care Center, caregivers and Hospice for all their wonderful care. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom; parents; two sisters, Helen \u0026 Dorothy; and one brother, Mitchell. She leaves behind Bradley and Denise (Jeff) Krenz; two grandchildren, Cy and Erica; 1 great-granddaughter, Aria; four sisters, Mary Ann, Marlene, Sharon and Marcella; and four brothers, Duane, John, Bill and Kevin.
