Olivia Dawn Red Horse, 41, Fort Yates, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at IHS Hospital, Fort Yates. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 9, 2017, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates, with Fr. John Paul Gardner officiating. A Rosary Service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday also at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Fort Yates.
Oliva was born December 14, 1975, in Bismarck, to Leo Red Horse Jr. and Janice Blue Earth. She was raised and educated in Fort Yates, and Job Corp in Utah. She enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo, and reading-especially Stephen King. Olivia was a very kind and caring person who worried about everyone. She always enjoyed taking care of her cousins' children. She was a good babysitter. Olivia never asked for much and was satisfied with what she had. She had a special mother/daughter bond with Kay "Dixie" (Nathan) Shell Track. Olivia like to go to Aunt Verna's house because she always went home with lots of clothes, shoes, and purses. She treasured her time with her nieces and nephews when they were home. Her sense of humor was contagious and kept laughter in a room. You always had to be careful what you said around her because she would have a come-back and "slam" you. Olivia liked to clean and would always clean at where ever she stayed. Olivia will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her father, Leo Red Horse Jr.; special friend, Curtis Peterson; one sister, Jerrada "Ista" Red Horse, both of Fort Yates; three brothers, Darrel "Casey" Red Horse, Crow Agency, Montana, Leo Red Horse III, Fort Yates, and Loren Blue Earth, New Town; two aunts, Verna (Sidney) Bailey, Fort Yates, and Jackie Blue Earth, New Town; special nieces, Dominique, Elizabeth, Dara, Brittney, Charity, and Tiffany; and nephews, Chesare and Chevy, and Dante and Micah Hart.
Olivia was preceded in death by her mother, Janice; grandparents, Leo and Agnes Red Horse; grandmother, Josephine Blue Earth; niece, Florence Miner; and uncle, Courtney "Joby" Red Horse.
