Pamela "Pam" Marie Sandwick, 50, left her home on earth Sunday June 14, 2015, after a short but courageous battle with cancer and is now in Heaven with her dad and brother. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2015, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, 4614 Memorial Highway, Mandan, with Fr. Terry Wipf officiating.
Pam was born October 6, 1964, in Bismarck, to Gene and Joanne (Hurkes) Sandwick. She graduated from Century High School in 1982 and furthered her education at the University of North Dakota. In 1982, Pam married Rick Martell and together they were blessed with two children, Dustin Patrick, Phoenix, Arizona and Lacey Martell, Bismarck. She later married Dean Kroll of Napoleon, ND.
Pam was a very hard and dedicated worker. Her first job was cooking pizzas at Dukes Pizza in Bismarck, she was just 14. Her passion for the pizza industry continued as she held positions at The Italian Village, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars and most recently A & B pizza where she was the manager for approximately 10 years. Upon leaving her position at A & B, she made a career change and worked at Sykes for three years. Her most recent position was at The Dollar Tree where she quickly excelled into a management position. She loved shopping there and was one of their best customers! :)
Additionally she had a seasonal position working with her brother Jerry as the General Manger of his business Fantasy Fireworks. She was always excited to see and pick out new fireworks. She was like a kid in a candy store waiting to test them out and light up the sky!
Pam was a very kind and caring person. She was happy go lucky, had a contagious smile, and a free spirit that could always cheer you up even on a bad day. Pam always had little trinkets to hand out to her friends and family and was especially fond of solars. She was there to lend a hand when any one needed her and had a soft spot in her heart for cats-often taking in strays in need of a home.
Pam couldn't wait for spring to come so she could jump into her roller blades to take a stroll along Pioneer and Sertoma parks. She enjoyed her garden and mowing her lawn. Pam spent many fun filled days with her family camping and boating on the river, swimming, playing on sandbars, and water skiing. She also enjoyed attending her brother Jerry's annual "Life's a Beach" summer party at The Desert. She was also active in dart leagues at the Covered Wagon Bar and played competively on a team through Dakota Music. Pam was an avid swimmer, spending many years on the YMCA swim team as well as Century High School varsity swimming program, often placing in the events she participated in. She also enjoyed spending time on her grandparent's farm in Hazelton.
Pam will be deeply missed by her children Dustin and Lacey, her grandchildren, Alexa, Aubrey, Eli, Isaak, and Avery; her mother, Joanne Sandwick; sister, Kathy Gross; and brother Jerry Sandwick; as well as her boyfriend, Donnie Wick; special friends, Ed Patterson, Kristie Dockter, and Mitch Rucker; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her cat Cooper (Coooop Kitty).
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene "E.N." Sandwick; brother Larry; and maternal and paternal grandparents. Pam will be missed by many and remembered for her kindness and special attitude toward life!
