Raymond was born April 24, 1957, in Bismarck, ND, to Robert and Bertha (Bullinger) Schwartzbauer. He was raised and educated in Mandan, ND. He served in the US Army in 1974. He married Vicky Pfenning on April 6, 1984.

Raymond grew up learning to be a hard worker. Working with his father, working on many farms, working at home, and his ending career was Prairie Knights Casino in 2022. Finally, being able to retire and start a new chapter of his life. Living in Mandan most of his life, moving to Huff, and then retiring in Glen Ullin with the love of his life. Looking forward to the upcoming summer to start celebrating his retirement came to an unexpected end. He was just about to celebrate his 66th birthday on Monday April 24th. Wanting to start the fishing season off with this beautiful weather. God had another plan for him. He peacefully left his family and this earth. He will never leave our hearts or our memories.

Ray was a man that everyone loved. A patient, compassionate, loving husband. An amazing, loving, protective father. A special and sweet grandfather. A one of a kind, trusting brother. A funny uncle. A fun cousin. A caring and inspiring friend. An all around great man that everyone loved in one way or another.

Ray had a great passion for music. He was definitely known for his ability to play the guitar. Being able to name any song and artist. Playing any song by ear in a matter of minutes. A deep belief that music was a great way to put your mind and heart at ease. Not being able to hear the strum of his guitar is going to be one of the hardest things to overcome. The joy it brought him to have such great friends to play music together or just share special moments together, meant a lot to him.

The smile on his face and the comfort knowing that he left this earth proud of his wife, daughter, and granddaughters is what helps the healing. Becoming a proud grandpa of 2 beautiful girls was one of his greatest accomplishments. Seeing his daughter come so far in life and watching her grow into a strong, amazing woman, mother, and daughter brought him such peace and comfort. Knowing his daughter had found someone special to stand by her and support her made him such a proud dad. Growing old with his best friend and experiencing so many wonderful and precious moments with such an amazing, supportive, loving, patient women completed him. Finding your soulmate and someone to tolerate you for 39 years is truly something special and rare. That's what Ray was, a rare seed that grew and blossomed into a beautiful and special flower that has now wilted to become one with the earth.

The number of hearts he has touched in his lifetime is something he never understood. He was such a special man. Raymond is now an angel watching over those he loved. A bright star in the sky for you to always find him when you need him. He may be gone but he will always be in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughter, Amy Schwartzbauer, friend Jory Martinez; grandkids, AnnaBelle Fischer, Harmonie and Shyheim Martinez; sister, Rosemary (Kenneth) Schmidt; nephew, Mikeal (Jayden) Schmidt; great nephews, William and Jacob; great niece, Claire; niece, Emily (Derek Pearson) Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Wandler and Annie Roberts; brother-in-law, Richard "Rick" Oas; nephew, Ricky Oas Jr.; great nephew, Ricky Oas III.
