Robert "Bob" Piper

Robert C. "Bob" Piper, 83, Mandan, passed away May 11, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory with Rev. Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, May 15, at DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Robert was born August 20, 1939 at Mandan, ND, to George and Elizabeth (Metzner) Piper. He was raised and educated in Fort Rice, ND. Bob grew up on a farm south of Fort Rice. After leaving the farm, he did odd jobs including a laborer, building the Oahe Dam near Pierre, SD and working at a carnival in Aberdeen, SD. This is where he met Terry Stellner, married and had 5 children. They later divorced. Bob went to school in Idaho and was certified as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He trucked for others for a few years until he started Piper Trucking. Bob started trucking in the early 1970's until his death. He believed in hard work and continued to work at his shop throughout his illness of pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his children, Lisa (Kevin) Weisz, Alexandria, MN, Scott, Ryan (Tanya) and Mitch all of Mandan, ND; siblings, George (Ruth) Newberg, Oregon, Bernie (Mary) of Mandan, and Betty Pivovaroff, Lancaster, CA; grandchildren, Nolan (Britta) Weisz, Lacie Weisz, Alexandria, MN, Elizabeth, Scott and Jack Piper, Mandan, ND, Danielle Miller, Mandan, ND, and Hannah Brown, Nebraska; step great-grandchildren, Ryker and Elin Johnson, Alexandria, MN; great-grandchildren Olivia Froelich and Foster Miller, Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his son, Rob Piper; parents, George and Elizabeth Piper; sister, Mildred Ritter; and nephew Dennis Piper.
