Our hearts ache as we lay our cherished mother to rest, Sharlene Wilma Iron Road (Wacinyan Pi Win – Depends on her), who passed away on April 6, 2025. Sharlene was born on May 10, 1944 in Fort Yates, ND to Milo and Ethel Grey Bull Iron Road. She was a devoted Mom, Gma, Ol Gma, and Auntie. She went to school at Wachter in Bismarck, attended the dorms in Fort Yates. She attended college at United Tribes where she studied to be a nurse. She quickly changed her major after she found out she couldn’t stand the sight of blood. She also was on the 1st committee that started the United Tribes Pow-Wow, she talked about the fun times they had fundraising for it. She eventually had her four children and lived to make a good life for them as a single mother. Before she retired, she loved working with the little ones at the daycare at United Tribes.

Sharlene was known for her warm smile, kind heart, and some of the best fry bread. She had a knack for sewing, doing crossword puzzles, she loved going to Walmart on a daily basis, and going out to eat, her favorite place was her beloved China Star where she was known as Grandma to the workers there. She had a way of making everyone feel loved, cherished and welcomed. She was a woman of great strength, resilience, very independent and always there when needed. Her wisdom and guidance will be dearly missed. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the memories of her love, laughter and such a beautiful smile. We will forever cherish the time we had with her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her five children, Delveen(Danny) Seaboy, Jesse(Sandy) Cloud, Rhonda Cloud, Melanie(Woody III) Star, and Shalee St. John; her grandchildren, Kristan Mahpiya (Silas Condon), Sharnell Seaboy, Trevin Iron Road, Jesselyn(Sunny) Zephier, Danielle Seaboy, Kelli (Tyson) Thompson, Troy Shepherd Jr, Jessel (Kara) Seaboy, Gracee Seaboy (Jr Salinas) and Kahlyse Cloud.
