Simon H. Miller Obituary (1920

Simon H. Miller, 94, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, June 5, 2014, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, with Rev. Keith Bondley officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Streeter, North Dakota. Simon was born February 17, 1920, to Henry and Elizabeth (Steiger) Miller at Napoleon, where he was raised and educated. On January 12, 1943, he married Martha Kapp in Bismarck. Following the marriage, he farmed in the Temvik area for two years. He formed a plastering business with his brothers in Bismarck, returned to farming for 11 years in the Goodrich area, and until his retirement he worked in carpentry and home building. More recently he enjoyed going to coffee and visiting friends and family. Simon is survived by four daughters, Marlene (Robert) Knight, Valley City, Priscilla (Terry) Villines, Arlington, Washington, Dinah (Robert) Fields, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Gloria (Jeff) Stockdale, Goose Creek, South Carolina; three sons, Bernard (Shelley) Miller, Rugby, Floyd (Mary) Miller, Bismarck, and Ralph (Sherrye) Miller, Braddock; ten grandchildren, Randy (Lisa) Knight, Rodney (Becky) Knight, Melody (Scott) Bibb, Todd (Kim) Villines, Barry (Gina) Krebsbach, Samantha (Tim) Sprouse, Martin (Christina) Stockdale, Carrie (Stevie) Ridenour, Tina Miller, and Eric Miller; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Simon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha; by his siblings, Katherine, George, Theodore, Rebecca, Abraham, Sarah, Rachael, Elizabeth, David, Hilda, and Vera.
