Stetson Ernest Hagel Obituary (1991 - 2015)

Stetson Ernest Hagel, 23, Fort Yates, North Dakota, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, in Fort Yates. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 22, 2015, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates with Brother George Maufort officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, Sunday at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. A Wake Service begins at 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 21st with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM in the AJ Agard Building, Fort Yates. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Fort Yates. Stetson was born October 19, 1991, in Bismarck, to Clayton and Maria (Thunder Hawk) Hagel. He was raised and educated in Fort Yates where he graduated from Standing Rock High School. Stetson worked various jobs helping in the family business. He danced in powwows and was a Fancy Dance Champion, winning several titles across the country. He is survived by his parents, Clayton and Maria; two brothers, Dusty (Tia) Hagel, and their children, Clayunna and Liam Hagel; and Weston Hagel, all of Fort Yates; aunts, Kayann (Phil) St. John, Jeanette (James) Condon; uncles, Ernie (Sissy) Thunder Hawk, and Todd (Lin) Hagel; grandparents, Helen Thunder Hawk, and Bob and Audrey Hagel; three cousins, Ty, Reed, and Karlie Hagel; and nieces, Kyleigh and Leighton Hagel. Stetson was preceded in death by his brother, Clay Hagel; grandfather, Joseph Thunder Hawk, great-grandparents, Tuffy (Mary) Ducheneaux, Adam (Sophie) Kuntz, and Agnes Looking Horse; and special aunt, Chepa Medicine Horse.
