Theophile Donald Soft Sr. Obituary (1941 - 2016)

Theophile Donald Soft Sr., 74, Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016, in a Jamestown hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 8, 2016, in the Community Building, Wakpala, South Dakota with Rev. Jordan Satterfield officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 9-11:00 AM, Friday, January 8, 2016, also in the Community Building. Burial will be in LDS Cemetery, Wakpala. Theophile was born April 2, 1941, at Fort Yates, North Dakota, to Mathew and Elizabeth (No Heart) Soft. He was raised and educated in Wakpala and attended UTTC. Over the years he worked for various schools in South Dakota as a janitor, at the State Capital in Pierre in maintenance, and at the Fort Yates Police Department as a dispatcher. He attended and participated in rodeos as a trick rider. He enjoyed anything outdoors, such as fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved to laugh and tell jokes and spend time with family and friends. He is survived by three daughters, Alvera (Robert) Conroy, Bernice Elk, all of Bismarck, and Patricia Soft, Bakersfield, California; three sons, Theophile Soft Jr., McLaughlin, South Dakota, Dionyious Soft Sr., Wakpala, South Dakota, and Darwin Soft, Billings, Montana; 45 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. Theophile was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Theodore, Dean, and Dennis Soft; sisters, Bernice Prue, Bertha Ducheneaux, and Alvera Ducheneaux.
