Vincent August Gabel

–

Mandan, North Dakota

Vincent "Vince" August Gabel, 88, Lincoln, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan, with Deacon Terry Glatt officiating. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bismarck.

An only child, he was born October 14, 1929, in Bismarck, to August "Sonny" and Helen (Dante) Gabel. He was raised and educated in the Bismarck area. He spent most of his working years as a truck driver and belonged to the Teamsters, and was also self-employed. After his retirement, he continued working. He loved being a security guard and working at the AMVETS.

Vince married Marie Krous, February 2, 1973. They lived the good old German traditions-which was a challenge-but he was blessed to inherited two brothers, Daryle and Tom Krous. He enjoyed his family time of fishing, camping, and hunting, and also, his Las Vegas trips with the families. He loved to garden and had many competitions with his mother-in-law, Sally. He was an avid collector of John Deere items and belt buckles. He loved his auctions, if you didn't know where he was, you could bet he found one to go to. His family also included his beloved dog, Tuffy, and his furry kitties, that he held for many hours, Tinkerbell, Tigger, Mi Mi, and Socks.

Vince was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother-in-law, and will be dearly missed by his wife, Marie of 44 years; three sons, Vincent "Butch" (Julie) Gabel Jr., Robert (Jackie) Fakler, and Richard (Chass) Fakler; two daughters, Helen Gabel (Tom Lee), and Deanna Finnie; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many adopted nieces and nephews.

Vince was preceded in death by parents, August "Sonny" and Helen Gabel; in-laws, John and Sally Krous; and brother-in-law, Daryle Krous.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue, mailing address PO Box 7364, Bismarck, ND 58502, or charity of your choice.
